Explore ancient myths and new beginnings by getting crafty, inventing stories and entertaining your friends and family, join us for 4 special family sessions as part of The Lantern project happening at the Fire on Water Festival in the pagoda at the Venetian Waterways in October / November.
What would our lives look like if they were an ancient myth? A fun way for ‘families’ / friendship groups to work together to tell their own story as if it were a myth from the past. Taking inspiration from traditional tales as well as making up new symbols and images for our time.
In small groups we will create a “Crankie” – a box with a window and a roll of paper inside. Turn the handle and watch the story scroll past the window. We will use the ‘Crankie’ to tell our own invented myths about the ups and downs of the last year. A fun way to create and tell your own story as a group. We will also create a collective carousel of images to be displayed in a shop window.
