Norfolk & Norwich Festival

The Norfolk & Norwich Festival  stages it’s annual festival in May with events in Norwich and around the county.  It is one of the Arts Council’s 14 Bridge Organisations, with a mandate for developing creative opportunities for children and young people in the Eastern Region.  Out There work closely with the festival to develop new work and opportunities for the people of Great Yarmouth.

Look Sideways - East

You”ll find the East is a place that defies convention: our skies are awesome, our landscapes simply  breathtaking, and our art and culture has led the world for hundreds of years.

From Benjamin Britten to the biggest world orchestra on the Suffolk Coast. From Constable”s  landscapes to cutting-edge live art in urban Ipswich. From the home of creative writing to a festival city  of world art in Norwich, England”s only UNESCO City of Literature. From fishing port to historic family  getaway, Great Yarmouth is forging a new identity through radical circus and outdoor arts – and fun is  still written through it like the letters in a stick of rock. The East is home to art that welcomes the world,  challenges expectations, and leaves you changed.

We are on the doorstep of Europe, a place of international exchange for centuries, where hospitality  and friendly greetings stretch from coast to countryside. Expand your horizons in the place where  culture welcomes the curious.

Unexpected and close to home, Look Sideways – East, for world-class culture.

Making Waves Together

Making Waves Together is a wider partnership project led jointly by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Waveney District Council, and funded by the national Great Place Scheme, which is seeing communities and organisations in both areas work together to boost the cultural offer and drive cultural re-imagination as a way of supporting success in the seaside towns.

There are sixteen bespoke activities, being delivered by nine partners which inspire and involve the two town’s communities.

Making Waves Together aims to raise the profile for culture as a driver for economic growth and community pride, support cultural education to inspire young people in order to influence the way the towns develop, strengthen both areas and to make them more attractive places to live in, work in, visit and learn about.

Great Places has been supported by a grant from Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
