Hi, I am Katleen from Circ Rodini. We are based with the company in Belgium. I would like to introduce my new outdoor production. 'The Amazing Katleen'. It's a 35 minutes solo show. Main technique is handbalancing. And in particular, certain handbalancing tricks from the past or original tricks, like 1 finger in a bottle, throwing knives on 1 arm, and shooting an arrow and bow with my feet.
The Amazing Katleen premièred in july 2023 at Mira Miro festival In Gent. The project was selected for the Circ'Circuit organisation which gives the possibility to connect with several networks in Belgium.
The urge for this creation grew of becoming a mother of twins with a rare genetic disorder combined with a pandemic. I was in need to tell something how this period in life was so marking for me as an artist but as well as a human being.
The opportunity to immerse myself in the history of the circus had set me off on a journey of self-reflection and acceptance, gaining the courage and strength to launch this new creation.
The Amazing Katleen was born. Full of passion for handstands. An ode to all the mothers and fathers combining the madness of having a family and work.
An ode to the circus from the past with a contemporary twist and a dash of humour.
