Who do public benches belong to? Benches can be trophies of intense competition and a search for balance, as well as lookouts to observe evolving landscapes and daily drama...
Highlighting the ways we behave on a bench and interact with each other, this non-verbal performance challenges the norms that rule public spaces and social relationships.
In a theatrical, amusing and poetic manner, along with choreographic moments, all five performers meet and cross paths. The show brings together everyday life stories and transforms the daily uses of the public bench.
Place Assise (literally “a place to sit”) is a street performance composed of five performers and one public bench. It was first shown in Blois, France, in September 2022.
