About Family Saturdays
Family Saturdays are 2-hour sessions (12.00pm - 2.30pm) each with the first half complete with craft workshops followed by the second half of circus workshops to take part in.
Part of an exciting 3 year programme for professional artist and community collaborations exploring and celebrating Great Yarmouth’s unique character, heritage and national significance as a centre for circus and entertainment.
Through year-round participatory creative activities including workshops, heritage learning, performance, skill development and experiences; Great Yarmouth's key arts and heritage organisations will animate and co create cultural programmes and wider town developments with communities, residents and businesses in the High St. Creating a more vibrant, engaging place to live, work and visit through cultural regeneration for GY.
To celebrate the redevelopment of The Ice House - we’re producing an incredible parade to premiere at the Out There Festival on Saturday 1 June. The parade will explore the heritage of The Ice House with eye-catching flags, banners and pennants designed and created by community.
Join us at The Drill House and have a go at using a myriad of visual arts techniques, from monoprint to illustration create your own unique flag and contribute to the creation of several large-scale flags, banners and pennants. The Family Saturday sessions will be led by artistic duo Witty Kitches.
Flag Making Workshops will also take at Out There Festival, running on Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June from 12pm – 8pm, at St George’s Park. Participants will be able to create their own unique pennant style flags which can be used in the community parade on Saturday 1 June. Further details to be announced soon.
