"Hamsters Take the Spotlight: The Unbelievable (but True) Story of Hamster Racing Comes to Life"
The beloved and eccentric world of Electric Hamster Racing, a festival favourite for over 15 years, is stepping into the limelight like never before.
On March 8th, the iconic Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth will host the world premiere of
"The Incredible (but True) Story of Hamster Racing… (with a Touch of Gerbil)", - a one-of-a-kind theatrical production blending storytelling, comedy, and interactive hamster hi-jinks.
This unique, one-night-only show will trace the hilarious and unlikely journey of Electric Hamster Racing, from its humble beginnings as a quirky pub sport to its evolution into a national festival sensation. The evening will also mark a historic moment as the event is filmed for the finale of an upcoming documentary, bringing the chaotic charm of hamster racing to an even wider audience.
“The Hippodrome show is the perfect way to kick off the season,” said Adam Amstar, creator of Electric Hamster Racing. “It’s a mix of heart, surreal humour, and high-speed hilarity" which sets the tone for what’s ahead in 2025 . And with the documentary of Adam's personal journey in the works, he's excited to finally share the full crazy story with the world.”
But that’s not all. The show will also serve as the official launch for the highly anticipated Monster Electric
Hamsters—a thrilling new chapter in the sport. These giant, Segway-powered racing machines are set to take centre stage this summer at major festivals, promising bigger thrills, faster action, and a sustainable message of eco-conscious fun.
"2025: The Year of the Hamster"
The March 8th debut is just the beginning of what promises to be a landmark year for hamster racing. Backed by Segway sponsorship, the Monster Hamsters will feature at a series of high-profile festivals, including Maui Waui, Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, starting in their home county of Norfolk in May - the town-wide, 5 day, Out There Festival in Great Yarmouth.
The expanded tour will also emphasize sustainability, with every event helping to offset carbon emissions through willow tree planting Willow Phoenix at Wakelyns Agroforestry Farm in Suffolk.
Tickets for the March 8th performance at the Hippodrome Circus are available now and expected to sell quickly. Don’t miss your chance to witness the start of a new era for hamster racing—one that’s bigger, bolder, and greener than ever before.

Maui Waui Festival
"Another unmissable, albeit beyond odd Maui Waui experience is the Electric Hamster Racing. Toeing the line between frustration, farce and brilliant insanity, ...... I considered attending the Electric Hamster Race to be a true highlight of my festival, and would not consider Maui Maui without them in attendance. "
