Out There Arts is an Arts Council England funded NPO, an independent charity that provides transformational opportunities for artists and communities by supporting, hosting and delivering world class international circus and street arts projects and events. Following an almost £2 million, Out There Arts are leading a development to transform the historic Grade II listed The Ice House into a National Centre for Outdoor Arts and Circus.
Throughout 2024, Out There Arts will be leading a Heritage Learning Programme surrounding The Ice House, working with volunteers and the community to uncover the fascinating history surrounding this key building for the historic fishing industry in Great Yarmouth.
We're looking for Heritage Content Curator to collate and manage the Heritage Learning Programme assets and information including stories; oral histories; photos, footage and other imagery; archive records and other research documents and materials.
Responsibilities:
- Create clear and accessible systems for managing, cataloguing and archiving assets and information
- Collate and manage all of the Heritage Learning Programme assets and information including stories; oral histories; photos, footage and other imagery; archive records and other research documents and materials
- Ensure permissions/copyright forms are in place for all interviews, photos and footage collected
- Editing interviews and transcribing oral histories
- Working alongside access partners on audio descriptions
Person Specification:
- An experienced research curator with a proven track record of engaging with a wide range of people
- Confident working with young people, community groups, diverse communities and professionals, especially in a cultural/ heritage context
- Understanding of the barriers to participation in the arts and heritage and brings experience of supporting diverse audiences to engage
- Excited about working collaboratively and building a body of heritage research accessible to many
- Experienced in the co-production of creative work
- Able to build a coherent body of research information
- Experienced in, or excited to learn about, the heritage of Great Yarmouth and The Ice House
- Organised, motivated and able to keep to deadlines
